ALTIFORM® - USE & CARE
Using Altiform Hosiery
Putting on your compression hosiery
Altiform stockings are designed to fit closely, particularly around the ankle. This provides the necessary compression to improve blood flow. As a consequence, they require care and a little time to put on.
- Slide your hand into the stocking until you reach the heel pocket.
- Pinch the heel and pull the stocking gently inside out.
- Fold back 1 inch of stocking at the opening of the foot section in order to put your foot into the stocking more easily.
- Pull the stocking carefully up the foot until your heel fits snugly into the elasticated pocket making sure that your toes are not restricted.
- Work the stocking up your leg in small sections, starting from the ankle and avoiding forcing the material wherever possible.
- ‘Below knee’ stockings should be pulled up to the bend at the rear of your knee, and the ‘thigh length’ stockings up to the middle section of your thigh. Any excess fabric should be smoothed back into the stocking. Do not roll back. If in doubt consult your healthcare professional.
- We recommend the use of at least 2 suspenders to ensure the thigh length stocking stays in place comfortably.
- On all hosiery, always make sure that your toes are NOT restricted when wearing the stockings.
