ALTIFORM® - CONTRA-INDICATIONS & RECOMMENDATIONS

Compression stockings should not be worn if the user:

  • Has peripheral vascular disease
  • Has significant arterial disease or congestive cardiac failure
  • Is diabetic – unless under medical supervision
  • Has an ankle brachial pressure index of below 0.8

For effective treatment and comfort Altiform stockings should fit well. Healthcare professionals must assess and measure the legs to supply the most appropriate size before each new pair is worn. We recommend that all patients be reassessed at least every three to six months for new stockings. Two pairs of stockings are usually prescribed.

A healthcare professional should be consulted if there are any concerns about the use of compression stockings, or the user's legs become more itchy, painful, hot, the stockings feel tighter or sensation is lost in the toes.
